About Don't Panic

Family life is personal.
Your software should be too.

Don't Panic is the household operating system, built by two people who know the difference between helpful organisation and one more thing asking for your attention.

Why we started

A calmer household begins with everyone seeing the whole picture.

Don't Panic began with a family move. Months of decisions, documents, costs, boxes, and emotional load exposed a bigger truth. The work of running a home too often disappears into one person's head.

Sarah saw the need for a tool that understands the whole household. Steven knew it could be built without turning a family's private life into a product. Don't Panic grew from that shared conviction.

The goal is simple: less mental clutter, fewer nasty surprises, and more room for family life.

The people behind it

Small team. Lived experience. No handoffs.

Founder and product lead

Sarah Grant

In 2024, Sarah moved her family from Scotland to New Zealand with Steven. Living through an international move gave her a first-hand view of how quickly plans, people, budgets, paperwork, and emotions become tangled.

She combines that lived experience with a background in product leadership and user experience to shape Don't Panic around what families actually need. The result is a product focused on clear next steps instead of more features, noise, or admin.

Lead engineer

Steven Grant

Steven turns the vision for Don't Panic into dependable software. He brings years of experience building responsive, scalable web applications and a practical understanding of how to make complex technology feel simple.

He leads the engineering with a bias for security, thoughtful details, and technology that quietly does its job without becoming the centre of family life.

Privacy is a product principle

Your household is not our business model.

Household admin can reveal where you live, what you own, what you spend, and who matters to you. We treat that context with the seriousness it deserves.

01

Collect less

We ask for information when it helps organise your household, not because it might be useful to us one day.

02

No selling your story

Your family details are not advertising inventory. We do not sell personal information or build profiles for data brokers.

03

You stay in control

The information you add should remain understandable, manageable, and yours to remove when you no longer need it.

04

Useful over intrusive

We use technology to reduce admin and surface the right next step. It should support your judgment, never quietly replace it.
